Science Tells How Jesus Walked on Water
The Bible says that Jesus walked on water, but a professor of oceanography at Florida State University in Tallahassee says Christ was actually walking on a floating piece of ice.
Find out how a newly discovered village near Jerusalem could markedly change biblical history.

The sixth chapter of the Gospel of John tells the story familiar to Christians: When evening came, his disciples went down to the sea, got into a boat and started across the sea to Capernaum. It was now dark, and Jesus had not yet come to them. The sea became rough because a strong wind was blowing. When they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and coming near the boat, and they were terrified. But he said to them: "It is I, do not be afraid." (John 6:16-20)

Is this what Jesus looked like? Using a computer and information about the time period, this image developed. And it's unlike anything ever before published.

Reuters reports that FSU professor Doron Nof credits this miraculous act to an unusual combination of water and atmospheric conditions in what is now northern Israel that could have led to ice formation on the Sea of Galilee. Using statistical models to examine the dynamics of the Sea of Galilee (now known as Lake Kinneret) and records of surface temperatures of the Mediterranean Sea, Nof determined there was a period of cooler temperatures in the area between 1,500 and 2,600 years ago. This could have included the time in which Jesus lived.

Two mathematicians have concluded that the biblical story of Moses parting the rushing waters of the Red Sea was possible scientifically and in concurrence with the laws of physics. Click to find out how!

Had the temperature dropped below freezing, it could have created ice to form in the freshwater lake then called the Sea of Galilee. And that ice would have been thick enough to support the weight of a man. What's more, it might have been impossible for distant observers--especially in the dark as the Gospel of John reports--to see that it was actually ice surrounded by water and not just water.

The burial box of bones is inscribed with these words: "James, son of Joseph, brother of Jesus." Israel's Antiquities Authority says it's a fake. Others think it could be real.

Nof calls this a "possible explanation" of how Jesus walked on water. "If you ask me if I believe someone walked on water, no, I don't," Nof told Reuters. "Maybe somebody walked on the ice, I don't know. I believe that something natural was there that explains it. We leave to others the question of whether or not our research explains the biblical account." Nof acknowledges he has received hate mail for espousing this theory. The study findings were published in the Journal of Paleolimnology.

Who Believes the Bible Is Literally True?
Nearly one-third of Americans believe the Bible is literally true, word-for-word, reports the Christian Post, a drop of 10 percent over the past 30 years.
Two mathematicians have concluded that the biblical story of Moses parting the rushing waters of the Red Sea was possible scientifically and in concurrence with the laws of physics. Click to find out how!

In the Gallup survey, more than 1,002 adults were asked to describe their view of the Bible. Here are the results:
--28 percent said the Bible is the "actual Word of God and is to be taken literally."
--49 percent said the Bible is the "inspired word of God but not everything in it should be taken literally."
--19 percent said it is an "ancient book of fables, legends, history and moral precepts recorded by man."

A Biblical treasure has been found in the desert, and it has all the makings of a movie: A secret desert encounter. A robber. An ancient Biblical scroll. But it's real.

The number of people who believe the Bible is literally true increases with age with the highest number of such believers living in the South and the lowest number living in the West. Younger people are less likely to profess belief in the literal Bible, and just 10 percent of college graduates say so, compared with 39 percent of people with a high school education or less.

Deaf Singaporean Debate on 21/10/2006

(I looked at students, who were really bored to lecture. I will tell you what I was thinking this debate in the book)
Deaf debate is not common. The objective of the programme was to give the studnt the opportunity to learn to analyse an issue and present it confidently. Altough one debate was not good enough for development to be good orator, the debaters got the chance to experience what it was like be in a situation which called for one's mental agility.

The round, Boon Lay Secondary School(BLSS) and Balestier Hill Secondary School(BHSS) were involved again. This set of debaters were different from the previous. The motion in the debate was "Uniforms should be scrapped" with BLSS as the propsition for the title and BHSS as a the opposition. The participants came with supporting charts and statistics.

The debate were held on 21 Oct 2005. The panel of judges were MR Alvan Yap, Mrs Jeanette Javier-Bruto and Ms Claudine Chan. The Guest of Honor was Mr Chew Mun Kai(SADeaf Executive Council Memember). The Chairman of the debate was Mr. Kenichi WRight. An interpreter was also present for this debate.

The programme was well-attended by each school's supporters totaling about 40 including the teachers. This year's debate was an improvement over the previous as the participants had learned to pick up the opposition's points to rebut. BHSS won the debate. ( this stories were from The signal of Singapore Associate for the Deaf)
